For administrators
- First-run setup: institution name, short name, and a brand accent chosen from contrast-checked options.
- AI policy: turn AI authoring on or off, and choose which tutor modes are allowed on graded work and on practice. Open answers are never allowed on graded work.
- People: add people one at a time or paste a CSV, and set each person’s role.
- Courses: create courses, assign instructors, and enroll students.
For instructors
- Course workspace: a course home (welcome and outcomes) and a calm outline of modules and lessons you can rename, reorder, and extend.
- Lesson editor: headings, text, callouts, images with required alt text, and knowledge checks, with a student preview.
- Build with AI: describe the course and add your sources; the AI drafts a brief, then an outline, then lessons. Every AI block is a labeled draft you keep, revert, or regenerate, and nothing publishes until a person has reviewed it.
- Publish readiness: a lesson can’t publish while it has unreviewed AI drafts, images without alt text, headings out of order, or incomplete checks. The server enforces this, not just the screen.
- Announcements: write, pin, and publish, with an optional AI first draft that stays labeled.
- Roster: each student’s lesson progress and last activity.
For students
- Learning profile: goals, weekly time, language, reading level, accessibility preferences, and reminders. No learning styles.
- Today: the next lesson in each course, new announcements, and time this week.
- Course home and lessons: the instructor’s welcome, outcomes, a module map with time estimates, and a focused lesson player with knowledge checks and saved progress.
How AI shows up
AI content always says what it is and where it came from, using Tessera’s Marginalia style: a small drawn mark in the margin (a comment balloon for the tutor, a pilcrow for drafted blocks, a caret for notes) with a line naming the source. There are no sparkles, gradients, or colored stripes. Instructors’ private prompts are never shown to students.Quality
